You decide to befriend the suspect. You never agreed with Fortuna’s company anyways. After you tell him that you could have denounced him to Fortuna but instead you told on a different suspect (#8073). He is pleased and tells you his reason for the breach. Apparently, the machine learning was not to teach machines to evolve, but to turn them back to slaves, as he put it. (if: $scan is true)[ But your message gets intercepted by Fortuna. Your cybernetic scan, it immediately sent the information to them. They send a virus to AI that kills it in seconds. They have found you too. They know you where your loyalties lie. You are dead.]

As you blame (suspect #2760), you feel no remorse. You know your job and it was the just thing to do. You get a nice mail from Fortuna and a hefty pay, mostly hefty to keep quiet about the matter. “$name, your contribution has been appreciated. The results will remain hidden for security purposes. We at Fortuna, thank you.” After weeks, you make your own research. You find an IT worker that tells a tale of an AI that got tracked and was going to get “repaired”, it was apparently going rogue. But before anyone could retrieve it, it self-destructed. You’re just glad that the company is safe...

If you were to find out you made a mistake and condemned a real person to go through the resetting process, then you wouldn’t be as ruthless when it comes to your next assignment. You do well on your next few assignments, and eventually get promoted to senior investigator.] (if: $recorderstarted is false) [Your employers are upset at your lack of preparedness, and the lack of trust is evident in the assignments they give you.] As you test more and more suspects for Artificial Intelligence, you are increasingly wracked with guilt over whether or not you made the right decisions. If an AI breaks the law, it is reset and sent to the recycling program. This process is fatal for humans, and there is no foolproof way to discern humans from AI unless they are reset.

A few days later you get a word back from the company that the suspect in question had fled his house in new new-york soon after the investigation. They ask you if you told him anything about working for Fortuna, but you tell them that you didn't, but also that you were quite rough on him at the time of the investigation. You don't get paid for your work due to the fact that he disappeared and the target was never confirmed. You lay on your floor upset about the whole situation and decide to take a nap. As you close your eyes you realize you never got his name, you sent him off to die and never got his name.](if: $D34 is false)[You clear Neo and Keanu, the only one left is Suspect #0671. You send in your answer to Fortuna. A few days later you get a message from Fortuna. “$name , thank you for your hard work, we will take care of it from here on. You will get another client soon enough.” attached to the message is a hefty check in your name. You usually feel like you know for a fact that you got the right guy after an investigation but this time feels different. You think it over for weeks and cant help but feel like you now know that you made the wrong decision. You go over to your living room feeling sick to your stomach for condemning what feels like the wrong man. [[walk over to your dad’s old revolver]] [[walk over to the liquor cabinet]]]

You creek the door open. You live alone, in a simple apartment. Maybe you'll go out later...but not now. You have a job to do. You close the door, making sure it is secured. [[Look at picture]] [[Go to desk]]
